My name is Jaclyn S. Marsh, Ph.D. and I am a first year (tenure-track) Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Tyler. I am committed to excellence in teaching and have had the opportunity to teach many different classes while at UNL and now at UT Tyler. These include both upper and lower divisions, stand-alone, online/distance, and multi-section introductory courses, providing me a wealth of preparation. My central objective as an instructor is to be able to connect with each student on their level, embodying my motto: “I am here to meet you where you are; not where I think you should be.” It is important to me that my students know they are heard and respected. I believe my course evaluations, teaching awards, and feedback from students have demonstrated that students have benefited from my approach. Research is very important to my work as an academic and I believe research and teaching go hand in hand.  In my line of research, I focus on how individuals, couples, and families are able to communicatively negotiate their roles within their different role groups and I am interested in how that relates to their overall well-being.
